e-BlueHorizons, and Why
Each one of us has our own "climate footprint". That is, we each contribute to global warming directly or indirectly through our own consumption patterns, work activities and life-styles. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that a two–person household generates greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 30 tons per year.
e-BlueHorizonsSM is used by individuals and organizations (such as businesses, school groups, religious congregations, and community service organizations) who want to satisfy their own sense of environmental citizenship by becoming "climate neutral" in their group endeavors or in one or more aspects of their personal and professional lives. Taking action also provides a simple and effective way to:
Provide a unique wedding, birthday, or holiday gift to a family member or friend who shares your commitment to protecting the environment;
Honor an achievement of a colleague, peer-group or professional team in a manner consistent with the values and aspirations of the honoree(s);
Offset the climate impacts of an important civic, national or international project or event;
Demonstrate progress toward a specific GHG emission reduction requirement or goal; or
Implement a corporate award program that is environmentally meaningful.
